Jamlin Soulaxe portrays all the iconic physical traits of a dwarf. Stalwart and stout, Jamlin stands at 4’8", weighing roughly 150 pounds. His hair and beard, black as coal, are kept clean and trimmed above his shoulders.

Curiously, what separates Jamlin from the average dwarf is his lack of passion for beer and ale. Instead, Jamlin prefers to smoke his pipe and drink pot after pot of strong tea to keep his senses sharp.

Jamlin grew up in Highforge with high expectations of him. As the eldest child of a large family, it was his responsibility to carry on the Soulaxe legacy of being craftsmens, and to be an example for his brothers and sisters to follow. Jamlin spent his youth at the forge, where he grew up listening to the tales of traveling soldiers and dreaming of adventure and exploration.

Though this longing only increased as he grew older, so too did the demands of helping his aging parents run the forge and care for his siblings, and slowly but surely the mounting responsibilities of simple dwarven life quashed any possibility of travel or seeing the world. Finally, just a month before a marriage of convenience to a local master smith’s daughter could lock him into place (but not before he’d sampled a few of the joys of married life), Jamlin came to the realization that the door to a storybook life of adventure was at last closing for good.

Thus, it came as a shock to his unsuspecting family when Jamlin left Highforge. Seized by a sudden, desperate need for a larger life than smelting and trading, the dwarf packed quietly and left in the middle of the night with no more than a backpack of gear, his handmade chainmail, and his father’s greataxe to discourage any ruffians who might seek to divest him of either. It was to become a theme that would follow him for the rest of his life.

Thirsting for the life of an adventurer, Jamlin now seeks to carve his own name in history.
